Molefe returns to work with a warm welcome

Eskom CEO Brian Molefe received a warm welcome from colleagues on his return to the power utility on Monday morning.

The Eskom board announced on Friday that Molefe was reinstated to his position as CEO following a dispute about his R30 million pension pay-out.

He has been at work for several hours already and has met with the board.

Protesters planned to stop him from entering Eskom's Megawatt Park, saying he must leave.

Gia Nicolaides has been following developments on the story.

He arrived very early this morning and missed any potential protesters who had planed to stop him form entering the building at Megawatt Park.

We do know from the Eskom board he has held a meeting this morning which they say was a successful meeting, and then he had an impromptu meeting with some employees at the reception area.

In the meantime, the Democratic Alliance has lodged has filed an application to interdict Molefe's return to his former post as Eskom CEO.
