No fingerprints found on axe or wall, testifies Sergeant at van Beda crime scene

A police official has testified that a total of 53 fingerprints were found at the van Breda home, including those belonging to the family, domestic worker, gardener and Marli van Breda's ex-boyfriend.

Henri van Breda is on trial for allegedly killing his parents and older brother at their home outside Stellenbosch in January 2015.

Sergeant Jonathan Oliphant was stationed at Worcester at criminal record center at time of the murders and visited the crime to collect fingerprints between 27 January - 30 January 2015.

Several unidentified fingerprints found at the scene, reports EWN's Shamiela Fisher.

According to Oliphant's testimony, no finger prints were found on the outside boundary wall or on the axe used to kill the victims.

The sergeant told the court that it would be possible for intruders to wear gloves and evade fingerprint detection.

Oliphant says that if fingerprints were wiped off a weapon they would also be undetectable.

Three finger prints were found on the knife, one set belonging to the triple murder accused, and the other two unidentified.
