Tony Taverna-Turisan, director of communication's in the office of Johannesburg Mayor Herman Mashaba swiftly responded to Kabelo's plea for urgent assistance.

He says Kabelo's story is tragic and is one many can relate to and promised that former head of the Gauteng Hawks, General Shadrack Sibiya, who is now the head of corruption in the City of Johannesburg will be in contact with Kabelo personally to see how they can assist with the matter.

It is essential that we find long term solutions to these problems.

The amount of hijacked buildings and lawlessness and drug lords and slumlords within those areas is disgraceful.

Taverna-Turisan adds that in the next financial year , the city will make a determined effort to take back the hijacked buildings and convert them to low cost housing for Johannesburg residents.

There are already provisions in place by the mayors office and the South African Police Services (Saps) to crack down on hijacked buildings, he assures residents.
