Missing teen: Kitso Mothibe was a brilliant child at school says stepfather

On Thursday afternoon, Kabelo Matsatsi called Talk Radio 702 in a desperate attempt to get help finding his 13-year-old stepdaughter.

Following Kabelo's phone call, the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) and Johannesburg Mayor, Herman Mashaba heeded Matsatsi's call to help him find Kitso Mothibe who has been missing for three weeks.

When Matsatsi reported the matter to the police he was turned away and told there is no man-power to invade and raid an abandoned building where it was believed the thirteen-year-old was believed to be held against her will.

Kitso was a brilliant child at school.

Matsatsi admits that they've experienced some behavioural issues with Mothibe, even soliciting the help of a social worker, who has been working with the family to help find their missing daughter.

Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini, Saps spokesperson, disputes claims that there are "no-go" areas for the police. He says there will be an investigation into why the police turned Matsatsi away and not offered the assistance he required.
