Kubayi delivers budget speech, its back to the drawing board for nukes programme

Energy Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi has told Parliament the department could do with a bigger budget, but understands it must do more with less.

She delivered her Budget Vote earlier on Friday.

The energy department's budget is R 8.1.

EWN reporter Ilze-Mari le Roux gives details on this and other issues raised by Kubayi.

She has actually suggested that Parliaments committee holds public hearings to discuss the propose nuclear deal...She said, for now, they are back at the drawing board and will also start renegotiating the intergovernmental agreements with China, the US and Russia.

An overall theme today in Kubayi's speech is that they will also be playing their role in pushing for radical economic transformation and she mentioned specifically the IPP program as being a key driver, they will be looking to incorporate more BEE owned companies into this process....
