Cape's water shortages very worrying

Spokesperson to Minister of Local Government Anton Bredell, described the current water shortage as a crisis.

James- Brent Styan says the province might see the dam water levels dropping to below 20% this week.

Brent Styan says they are working on different strategies, from short-term immediate solutions to medium long-term strategies.

For short term solutions, people are encouraged to save water through water restrictions that are in place. He says it was difficult to budget for with other urgent matters that needed money like the building of hospitals and schools.

We are hoping to see a good rainfall at the end of this month and beginning of June.

Level 4 water restrictions will come into effect as of June 1.
