Accidents are more likely to happen closer to home - report

A study conducted by a transport researcher at the University of Waikato, New Zealand reveals that we are more likely to be involved in a traffic accident closer to home.

Bridget Burdett, principal researcher at the Traffic Design Group says motorists tend not to pay attention when they are closer to home.

She says on roads closer to home people are likely to have crashes affected by alcohol or not wearing seat belts.

They are more likely to be distracted or be on their cellphones...
