Auditor general finds previous funding model for Tshwane free WiFi irregular

Several reports over the weekend say the free WiFi in Tshwane could be in danger because some service providers have not yet been paid. Cllr Cilliers Brink, Tshwane MMC for Corporate Services says the City of Tshwane will do everything in it's power to continue with the service and possibly expand it pending a sustainable funding and infrastructure model.

But there is one glitch and we've went on record about this, the Auditor General found last year that the previous funding model for Tshwane free WiFi was irregular.

As you know irregular expenditure is expenditure in contravention of law and that is something we've had to fix.
