8-year-old is among 22 dead in Manchester arena attacks

A deadly explosion went off shortly after US singer Ariana Grande's performance at the Manchester Arena on Monday evening.

Peter Anderson, EWN UK Correspondent, says British Prime Minister Theresa May made her way to Manchester on Tuesday afternoon and met with police chiefs and political leaders.

He says the Prime Minister will also pay hospital visits to those injured in the attacks and emergency services who were involved in aiding the injured.

The Queen and members of the royal family led a moment's silence to pay their respects to those affected by the tragedy.

Anderson says names of those involved are being released adding that an eight-year-old was killed in Monday night's explosions.

The police have raided a couple of premises near Manchester. We have heard confirmation that they arrested a single individual, a 23 year old man in connection with the attacks.

The police now want to clarify whether the attacker was supported by other people in carrying out this gruesome act.

The suspect has not yet been named publicly, says Anderson, but is understood to be from the United Kingdom.
