Sir Roger Moore: The action hero and humanitarian

Veteran actor Sir Roger Moore has died at age 89.

Ian-Malcolm Rijsdijk is a senior lecturer in the Centre for Film and Media Studies, and director of the African Cinema Unit at the University of Cape Town says Moore is the James Bond he came of age with. Sir Roger Moore played James Bond in more 007 films than any other actor.

He struggled to shrug off the James Bond character.

Malcolm Rijsdijk says Moore did a lot of humanitarian work outside of his film career which is why he gained the title sir. Sir Roger Moore has spent his career helping raise funds for Unicef and cared deeply about helping raise money to help countries devastated by poverty.

If you look at Bond under Moore, he really took Bond into a different realm with all the films.
