Mbalula leads imbizo in Nyanga, deploys more tactical response team members

Nyanga has long been dubbed as having one of the highest murder rates in the country.

Police Minister Fikile Mbalula says 60 tactical response team members will be deployed to the Nyanga Police Station.

He addressed community members during an imbizo on Wednesday afternoon.

Residents have raised concern over police visibility, as well as a staff shortage at the local police station.

Kevin Brandt was there.

Brandt says a site has been identified for a new police station to be built in the area.

The minister has also urged officials to deal defectively with crimes on women and children.

The police minister also spoke about the Muizenberg police station upgrade, once again stating that that project has been halted, and infrastructure will now be rolled out to the more needy communities including Nyanga.

The police minister without any uncertainty stating that if you are police officials you are not at work to have a nice time, you are there to ensure that the community is being kept safe and in particular speaking up against the violent crimes against women saying that those will not be tolerated.
