The water crisis in the Western Cape made international headlines after CNN meteorologist Derek van Dam highlighted the drought.
Van Dam says the problem sounded severe but non of the international media covered it and that is worrying.
He spoke about Cape Town being a home away from home for him as he worked and lived in the city before getting a job offer from CNN.
Van Dam says a thorough investigation was done before going public to determine the severity of the situation.
