100 police officers to be deployed in Nyanga and Cape flats

The Elsies River area received a satellite police station that was opened on Thursday by Police Minister Fikile Mbalula.

The satellite police station will be offering certification and crime reporting services with backup such as victim support staff.

Spokesperson for the Minister of Police, Vuyo Mhaga, says a lot is being done to deal with crime in the townships as well as in the Cape flats.

Mhanga spoke about the level of crime in Nyanga saying they will be bringing about 100 police officers into the area.

We are going to be placing the task team in Nyanga - those are the police that deals with dangerous criminals.

Vuyo Mhaga, Spokesperson for the Minister of Police

Mhanga also spoke about the killings in Kwazulu - Natal, describing the situation as worrying.

By March 2017 about 12 members of the ANC, IFP, NFP and SACP had been murdered in KZN political killings.

We have decided that we are going to put all sources of the state, the task team, intelligence and everything on the ground to make sure we curb those killings.
