CT mosque launches app to keep congregation and community connected

Masjidul Quds, also known as the Gatesville Mosque, has launched a mobile app ahead of the blessed month of Ramadan.

The mosque is Cape Town's biggest and has risen to prominence for its open-door policy.

The app is in an effort to keep congregants connected to the mosque and greater Cape community.

The mosque's Mohammed Abdullah explains that the app will detail the daily prayer times, full Ramadan programme, provide death notices, a donation platform and live video and audio stream of the lectures.

We'll have lectures live, either via audio or video, depending on the user.

He explains that Ramadaan is a time for reflection, spirituality, fellowship and community service.

According to Abdullah, theirs is the first mosque globally to launch such a comprehensive app.

He says the app will be accessible globally, and will be available on the Google Play store.

This will allow anyone in the world to down the app on their phones.
