Three suspects arrested for the murder of Stellenbosch university student

The body of 21-year-old University of Stellenbosch student, Hannah Cornelius, was discovered early on Saturday morning between Stellenbosch and Kraaifontein.

Cornelius and a male friend were reportedly hijacked on Friday.

EWN reporter, Ilze-Marie le Roux, says although there are unconfirmed reports that are making the rounds, it is understood that the duo were approached by three men in the early hours of Saturday in the Stellenbosch city centre.

The three gained access to the vehicle Cornelius and her friend were traveling in and drove off with them.

Later on Cornelius's male friend was forced out of the vehicle and sustained minor injuries as a result.

The police have since arrested three suspects and they will appear in court on Monday morning, says Le Roux.

It is unclear at this stage whether they will be charged for the murder and the attempted murder as well as the hijacking but at the very least they will be charged for being in the possession of a stolen vehicle.
