The Democratic Alliance (DA) says there is clear evidence of corruption in the wake of reports based on the set of emails that appear to show how the Gupta family were in direct contact with cabinet ministers.
The opposition party is expected to lay a string of charges at the Cape Town police station on Tuesday, against President Jacob Zuma, for his alleged involvement, .
The emails were published by the Sunday Times and the City Press newspapers on Sunday.
Stephen Grootes spoke to DA Federal leader, James Selfe.
It starts off with the easiest, which are the statutory offences, under the protection of corrupt activity act. But it is also quite clearly on the face of it, racketeering that has taken place.— James Selfe, DA Federal Council chair
There are some offences in terms of the taxation legislation, clear evidence of corruption, and there is actually in our view a prima facie case for having in fact committed treason, because what happened here is in this case - a foreign family managed to buy the entire structure of the state and that constitutes at least putatively, treason.— James Selfe, DA Federal Council chair
