Hawks inquiry into Gupta leaked emails is welcomed news

The Hawks have launched an inquiry into thousands of leaked emails involving alleged improper dealings in awarding government contracts.

The elite police unit says it's looking into the authenticity of the so-called Gupta emails and how were they leaked.

A trove of documents have been made public over the past two weeks, exposing alleged dodgy dealings between the Gupta's, state-owned enterprises and President Jacob Zuma.

Zuma has denied any wrongdoing.
