#GuptaLeaks reveal that Gupta family had their sights set on Primedia

In the latest from a series of Gupta emails it has emerged that the family wanted to buy a range of media entities, including Independent Media, the Mail & Guardian, and Primedia.

Micah Reddy, journalist from the amaBhungane Centre for Investigative Journalism tells Afternoon Drive host, Redi Tlhabi that the Gupta family intended to generate profits by making money from government advertising via their media owned companies.

We know that the Gupta owned media companies are very overtly pro Gupta, pro ANC. They probably would have very similar ambitions for the companies they had hoped to buy out. That would be Primedia, Mail & Guardian and The Independent.

It was also about using these media entities as money spinners.

The emails are not fake, it would have been humanely impossible to put together such as emails. It's clear as day that the emails are genuine.
