Soldiers from the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) along with other officials are trying to bring the fires in Knysna under control.
Four people have been killed as a result of the blaze and ten thousand people have been evacuated from their homes.

Thousands of people are accommodated at community halls and other facilities across parts of the Western Cape, as the battle with the blaze continues.
300 structures have been completely destroyed and variety of others, including houses are heavily affected.— James-Brent Styan, spokesperson, Provincial Minister for Local Government
