9500 hectors of land and 400 homes guttered in #KnysnaFire

Water bombing is underway in both Plettenberg bay and Knysna. A ghastly fire swept through the town of Knysna leaving the area in ruins.

Kevin Brandt, EWN Reporter is in Knysna.

Brandt tells The Midday Report host, Stephen Grootes that the officials on the ground are saying active firefighting has been halted.

There are three helicopters water bombing some of the areas.

There is no immediate threat to any property at this stage.

Brandt adds that residents are not yet allowed to return to their homes but some have been spotted visiting the remains of their homes.
