South African geologist Tshiamo Legoale (27) has won the heralded Fame Lab award at a ceremony in the UK on Friday for a technique she invented that uses wheat to “grow gold”.
Legoale uses wheat enzymes to extract gold from the residue after the extraction of most of the gold from ore.
She jokingly refers to herself as a “gold farmer”.
CapeTalk’s John Maytham interviewed Legoale.
