Callers have raised concern over an alleged increase in airport robberies.
Caller Devi shares how her relatives were held up on the N12 near Voortrekker Road by men posing as policemen.
She says her family were driving back from OR Tambo International Airport when the group of suspects flashed what appeared to be police badges, asked them to pull over their vehicle and then proceeded to rob them of their belongings.
On the N12 going south just before the Voortrekker Road, the car overtook them and they were showing them police badges and asked them to pull off.— Devi, caller
He got out of his car they told him to get back into his car and park properly. They then said we want to search you for drugs, they also looked at their rings, took all their jewelry and cellphones, brought out guns, held them up, took their car keys and left them there.— Devi, caller
The Star reported specific incidents, during May and June where people were followed from OR Tambo International Airport and robbed.
