Following recent terror attacks, politicians criticised social networks for providing safe spaces for extremism.

Now Facebook has announced that it’s developing AI and employing a team of 150 experts in order to become "a hostile place for terrorists."

Facebook has described how it’s at least making use of artificial intelligence to attenuate the successes of extremist recruitment and propaganda.

Alphabet Inc.’s Google says it is creating new policies and practices to suppress terrorism-related videos, a response to U.K. lawmakers who have said the internet is a petri dish for radical ideology.

Google will increase its use of technology to identify extremist and terrorism-related videos across its sites, which include YouTube, and will boost the number of people who screen for terrorism-related content, wrote Google’s General Counsel Kent Walker in an editorial in the Financial Times Sunday. The company will also be more aggressive in putting warnings on and limiting the reach of content that, while not officially forbidden, is still inflammatory.

Ms. Pac-Man was supposed to be the more difficult arcade game. But now it's been laid low — like chess, Go, and poker before it — by artificial intelligence.

Researchers with deep learning company Maluuba, acquired by Microsoft earlier this year, decided to tackle the deceptively simple arcade game after developing an unusual AI algorithm that uses a team of intelligent agents overseen by a manager agent to play Ms. Pac-Man.

Those agents broke the game down into tasks and sub-tasks and were rewarded (or reinforced) for pursuing those tasks. Using this method, the AI algorithm soon mastered Ms. Pac-Man and reached a maximum score of 999,999, which, according to Microsoft, no AI or human has ever achieved before. Doing so, automatically resets the game.
