Cash-strapped SABC not renewing freelance contracts

According to reports, the SABC has decided to fire several of its veteran sports commentators including football analysts Christoph Bongo and David Kekana.

Independent TV critic, writer and journalist, Thinus Ferrirra says former COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng promised all freelancers permanent positions but that never happened.

He says now that the SABC is cash-strapped it is simply not renewing freelance contracts.

There is also a huge downsizing happening at the SABC sports division... they literally got a three-sentence letter saying that their services will no longer be needed from 30 June.
