ANC NEC meeting to get underway ahead of big policy conference

The African National Congress (ANC)’s national executive committee (NEC) will meet on Tuesday as the party’s policy conference approaches.

The ANC says today’s meeting will focus solely on the conference.

Delegates will be meeting at Nasrec, Johannesburg in a gathering that, according to some analysts, could become a test of strength between the supporters of President Jacob Zuma and those of Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa.

The big discussion, I think that we looking for clarity on is how the two days that have been set aside to discuss some of the issues that the veterans have ventilated will be handled considering the fact that this group of stalwarts has decided that they are not coming to the conference.

Karima Brown, Political analyst

It looks like the veterans might have a presser or statement preceding the conference so the next two days are quite critical because it will give us a sense of how the issues around the integrity of the ANC is going to be discussed.
