Zuma to address delegates as ANC policy conference kicks off

Over 4 000 African National Congress delegates are expected at the party's policy conference in Nasrec in Soweto on Friday.

The group will spend the first two days of the six-day conference assessing the state of the organisation.

Political analyst Karima Brown says effects and resolutions around the economic downturn will most likely dominate discussions.

It is likely that it is in fact the economy and proposals on how to grow the economy, inclusive growth and employment, that will likely dominate discussions at the gathering.

Stalwarts of the ANC say they will not participate in the consultative process scheduled for the first leg of the conference.

Marred by infighting and factionalism in the party, President Jacob Zuma told guests at Thursday night’s gala dinner that the party will use the conference to address all challenges.
