The movement Black First Land First (BLF), led by Andile Mngxitama, on Thursday picketed outside veteran journalist Peter Bruce's home in Johannesburg.
The leader of BLF Andile Mngxitama says although they respect media freedom, the movement will not tolerate unethical and biased white monopoly capital racist reporting.
Mngxitama had a heated conversation with CapeTalk's Kieno Kammies accusing the movement of being on a mission to protect the Guptas.
According to Mngxitama, the movement has a mandate to protect the country against slanderous reporting and will continue to host these kind of protests.
The South African National Editors' Forum (Sanef) deputy chairperson, Katy Katopodis, says what transpired at Bruce's home is totally unacceptable and should be condemned strongly.
It is not just journalists who should be condemning this but South Africa at large because media freedom is about the health of our democracy and what we saw happening is absolutely shocking.— Katy Katopodis, Sanef deputy chairperson
