‘Corruption and patronage crushes ANC’s capacity to implement policy’

The ANC is holding its annual policy conference.

This year’s policy conference takes place amidst unprecedented turmoil in the fractious ruling party.

There’s the looming succession battle, the weakening of the tripartite alliance, an economy in recession and state capture by the Guptas who are, according to political analyst Daniel Silke, virtually a fourth pillar of the governing alliance.

Arabile Gumede (in for The Money Show’s Bruce Whitfield) interviewed independent political analyst Somadoda Fikeni about the ANC’s policy paralysis.

Listen to the interview in the audio below (and/or scroll down for quotes from it).

This [ANC’s loss of support] is happening faster in urban areas.

Somadoda Fikeni

Policy implementation and turnover is one of the biggest challenges faced by the ANC.

Somadoda Fikeni
