Nzimande: Gupta family is the single biggest problem of the ANC

General secretary of the South African Communist Party Blade Nzimande said the role of the Gupta family is the single biggest challenge to the ANC at the moment.

Unless there is a complete break with the Gupta's and also dealing with the comrades who have allowed this to happen to the organisation, the better. Because these parasitic networks that have actually crept in, we are concerned that this may actually come out as the single biggest scandal of our 23 years in democracy.

Blade Nzimande, SACP general secretary

Unless the ANC deals with what was in the diagnostic report, its heading for trouble.

Blade Nzimande, SACP general secretary

Nzimande says breaking away from the party will not be an easy decision.

We have chosen to be part of the solution, even now we are hopeful that we won't define ourselves outside of the congress movement and outside of the alliance, but definitely the mood in the party at the moment is to say look, are we still in alliance with the ANC or are we in an alliance with the Gupta's?.... those are the questions we will have to look into but we don't want to make a decision out of irritation or anger.
