Burglary at office of Director of Public Prosecutions could be an inside job

The offices of the Director of Public Prosecutions in Tshwane was robbed on Sunday night.

According to EWN reporter Barry Bateman, this is the latest in a string of burglaries at a number of its offices in the country.

Bateman says it is still unclear how the intruders gained entry into the building and what they stole.

Last week the national headquarters of the Hawks was also robbed.

At this moment we do know that intruders gained entry to these particular office there hasn't been any arrests.

Barry Bateman, EWN reporter

Bateman says the two burgled offices hold important documents of some of the high-profile case in the Pretoria High Court.

The biggest question in point is why the intruders only targeted those two offices and how did they pass security, he asks.

Police are investigating the matter, says Bateman.

There's a concern that there's an attack against the criminal system of people within the criminal justice system interfering to ensure that certain matters don't get investigated and that those that get investigated don't get properly handled.
