SACP delegates apparently want to purge pro-Zuma leaders

South African Communist Party (SACP) delegates apparently do not want supporters of President Jacob Zuma re-elected into leadership, reports EWN's Clement Manyathela.

It's reported that delegates want to remove pro-Zuma leaders such as Young Communist League's Buti Manamela and SACP chairperson Senzeni Zokwana from the party's Central Executive Committee (CEC).

Many delegates here don't want to re-elect Buti Manamela back into the central committee and are not happy with CEC member Sdumo Dlamini as well.

The SACP is also expected to decide on whether or not to independently contest elections.

SACP general-secretary Blade Nzimande says if it wasn't for the current political climate, he would step down from his position, according to Manyathela.

Nzimande says if it was up to him, he would have chosen to step down. But he says because of the political situation in the country.
