Eskom board trying to pull a Hlaudi on us - FM editor

Tuesday's front page of the Business Day newspaper ran with a story that the board of Eskom is planning to take disciplinary action against its former chief executive, Matshela Koko after it emerged that he was a part of decisions that gave a company a billion rands worth of contracts.

Financial Mail deputy editor Sikonathi Mantshantsha who wrote the story, says the board is busy formulating charges against Koko based on recommendations from law firm Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr.

He says Koko was found to be in conflict of interest and failed to disclose that Eskom had awarded Impulse International, a company in which his stepdaughter Koketso Choma was a director, contracts worth several billion.

I'm reliably informed that Eskom's board is trying to pull a 'Hlaudi' on us by presenting a farce disciplinary hearing designed to acquit him.

Sikonathi Mantshantsha, deputy editor, Financial Mail

Acting Eskom board chair Zethembe Khoza, told Mantshantsha that there are no charges against, Anoj Singh, currently Eskom's CFO yet.
