Keen for a scenic rail trip on a steam train where you will get to experience a mode of transport from the olden days?
The Ceres Railway track was reinstated in 2002 and runs trips every Saturday from Cape Town to Ceres and back as well as along the West Coast.
The journey traverses the stunning Boland scenery through Wellington, Nuwekloof Pass, Wolseley and Michell’s Pass before disembarking at Ceres.
Director of Ceres Rail Derick du Toit, speaks to CapeTalks Kieno Kammies about some of the trips they are running.
A return trip from Cape to Ceres, including lunch, will cost about R800, says du Toit.
