The Moerane Commission of Inquiry into political killings in KwaZulu-Natal has heard how the Glebelands Hostel in Umlazi has become a reservoir for assassinations.
A former hostel resident told the commission that the trade of allocated beds, forced evictions and mismanagement by the eThekwini Municipality has exacerbated the situation.

The inquiry is investigating why at least 89 people have been murdered since March 2014 without a single arrest being made, reports EWN's Ziyanda Ngcobo.
Glebelands is a predominately ANC area and has seen a web of violence linked to factionalism and power struggles in the party, Ngcobo explains.
Independent community activist Vanessa Burger told the commission that politicians source their hitmen from Glebelands.
It's alleged that ANC leadership in the area want to channel money form the municipality to the party's coffers.
