In his video, Adam Spires, takes a look at the underground spring water that flows out to sea which he believes could be used.

Capetonians are expected to use less that 87 litres of water per day due to Level 4B water restrictions.

However, vlogger Adam Spires has discovered that there's plenty of water that could be used.

After hearing about the underground tunnels that pump out water underneath the City of Cape Town, Spires decided to make a video to capture everything.

He says the aim of the vlog is to ask important questions of why water, which is said to be billions of litres, is not being used.

It needed to be done, shared and open a dialogue to see what we can do.

UCT's Dr Kevin Winter says the volume of water that's been shown in the video has not been systematically measured and no one really knows how much of it is there.

He says studies needs to be done in order to convince the City to start recognising these springs.
