EWN reporter Mia Lindeque says the Saps flying squad has been brought in to look after the 10111 call centre while the call centre agents are on strike.
The call centre operators are demanding that their salary level is upgraded from level 5 to level 7.
Lindeque says some of the police officers who were off duty have been brought in to help at the call centre.
An estimated 5 000 call centre operators went on strike, with some of them picketing outside the Midrand centre.
It is not clear what the duration of the strike will be.
There is no meeting scheduled for today, we don't know when they'll be going back to the negotiating table.— Mia Lindeque, EWN reporter
