A strike among police emergency call centre operators entered its second day on Thursday.
They are demanding that their salary level is upgraded from level 5 to salary level 7, which is R226 211 per annum.
South African Policing Union (Sapu) is meeting with the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) to find a resolution to the strike.
Lungelo Dlamini, Gauteng South African Police Services (Saps) spokesperson says contingency measures have been implemented to ensure operational services continue at the 10111 call centre.
We have brought in some of our operational members to man the call centre.— Lungelo Dlamini, Gauteng South African Police Services (SAPS) spokesperson
Flying squad members and some off duty police officers have been deployed to work at the call centre temporarily.
Dlamini says he cannot comment on the status of the negotiations between the union and CCMA.
