The first image of ailing Nigerian President Muhammad Buhari shared in three months has done little to ease concerns in the country. President Buhari left for London three months ago on medical leave.
Journalist Crystal Orderson says despite the fact that the image of Buhari shows him having lunch with a senior member of his ruling party, it is clear that all is not well with the president.
Because there are such rare sightings of the president, this basically means the rumour mill is in full effect.— Crystal Orderson, Journalist
According to Orderson, the Nigerian presidency rejects any rumour that Buhari is terminally ill. They also remain silent on any questions surrounding the president, like when he is returning to Nigeria.
In South Sudan, Western donor nations say they will commit no further money or resources to support tyhe implementation of the countries peace deal.
Orderson says the country is facing dire times. The war that began in 2015 is raging on, there is an ongoing famine, and the country is in a state of emergency.
The Western donors consisting of the European Union, Britain, and Norway, are not giving any more money towards the peace deal, as there seems to be an implementation of the peace deal and they are not being fully informed.
