Makhosi Khoza may be isolated by ANC to send a signal to others - analyst

African National Congress (ANC) member of Parliament Makhosi Khoza has been officially served with a charge sheet by the party in KwaZulu-Natal.

Provincial Secretary Super Zuma said: “Yes we can confirm that comrade Makhosi Khoza was served with a charge sheet yesterday evening. She has already confirmed that she has received her charges. We are now looking forward to her to appear before the disciplinary committee.”

Prof Somadoda Fikeni, political analyst says her high profile pronouncements and participation in several forums covered in the media led to Khoza's inevitable conflict with the party's KZN branch.

Fikeni adds that the KZN branch of the ANC is quite sensitive on matters relating to anyone seen to be splitting the party's position on President Jacob Zuma and succession.

I doubt ANC will have an appetite to take on several members simultaneously. They may isolate her in order to send a signal to other.

I doubt they will have the appetite to go after Pravin Gordhan and others. More so because you already have an NEC that has made pronouncements and even Members of Parliament which if you decide to take on all of them, you may risk splitting the party.

Prof Somadoda Fikeni, political analyst

Fikeni says the party may prefer suspension to discipline Khoza.
