Police are keeping a close eye on the situation near Pelican Park after disruptive protests on Thursday morning.
A group of disgruntled Phumlani Village residents took to the streets to protest their poor living conditions, reports EWN's Monique Mortlock.
Protesters set tyres alight and threw rubble onto a section of Strandfontein Road, resulting in road closures and major traffic delays.
Residents say they're living in squalor and have received little to no help from their councillor, Mortlock explains.
