Exciting moment for Cheetahs as they join PRO14

The South African Rugby Union has confirmed that the Cheetahs and the Southern Kings rugby franchises will be playing in Europe next year, joining an expanded PRO14 tournament for the 2017/18 season.

Cheetahs managing director, Harold Verster, says there will be fourteen teams participating in the competition, in two different logs.

On the log, you'll play a double round, home and away and then play a single round across the conference or three matches at home. You'll also play your local teams twice...

Harold Verster, Cheetahs managing director

Verster says the games will be broadcast live on SuperSport.

He says there will be substantial increases in their finances in the long term future.

Its a very exciting competition and it brings something special and new to the rugby scene.
