Zuma has a lot think about - analyst

President Jacob Zuma survived the 8th motion of no confidence against his presidency which was held via secret ballot in Parliament on Tuesday.

The opposition parties needed 201 votes to win the motion. 198 MPs voted against the opposition's bid to remove Zuma, while 177 voted for him to stay, meaning about 30 ANC MPs voted for Zuma to be removed.

Political editor for Mail & Guardian, Matuma Letsoalo says what transpired in Parliament on Tuesday sent a very strong message to Zuma and the ANC.

Read: 'Jacob Zuma is much weaker than we’ve ever seen him'

I believe the president will reflect very strongly.

Matuma Letsoalo, Political editor for Mail & Guardian

An increasing number of ANC leaders are really not impressed in his leadership.

Matuma Letsoalo, Political editor for Mail & Guardian

He says Zuma doesn't realise the damage he has caused to the ANC.

The veterans of the ANC as well as some members of the NEC have asked Zuma to Step down but he seems not to see nothing wrong with all that, says Letsoalo.

The victory yesterday was very narrow .... he should be very worried wherever he is

Matuma Letsoalo, Political editor for Mail & Guardian

According to Letsoalo, the results of the motion of no confidence in Zuma means that democracy in South Africa is working and people can express their views.
