"President Zuma thinks ANC constitution takes precedence over SA Constitution"

President Jacob Zuma addressed the cadres forum over the weekend in the Free State. He stated that the ANC's constitution should be applied to those members who voted against him during the motion of no confidence.

Zuma said he was shocked that even the chair of the ANC's disciplinary committee was implicated and added that the matter would be discussed through the official channels.

Associate editor at Tiso Blackstar, Ranjeni Munusamy says Zuma's utterances show that the ANC is completely rattled by what happened in Parliament last week. She says they clearly don't know what is the right approach in dealing with the matter.

Ranjeni Munusamy, Associate Editor Daily Maverick

Clearly, some people believe that the reasoning of the Constitutional Court and what the Speaker gave as her reasoning for allowing the secret ballot is not valid, and that the ANC's constitution takes precedence over SA's Constitution.
