Motorists have been reporting taxis blocking the roads in the Camps Bay area from as early as 6 am on Tuesday.
According to reports about 40 minibus taxis were part of a convoy travelling at a very low speed, transporting Imizamo Yethu residents into Cape Town for a planned protest.
The protest is set to commence at 10 am, where residents plan to hand over a memorandum at the Civic Centre.
Executive Director of Safety and Security at the City of Cape Town, Richard Bosman has confirmed that 40 minibus taxis are making their way into the city centre.
Motorists are advised to avoid the streets near the Grand Parade, Adderley street and the Civic Centre from 10 am as they will be a lot of traffic congestion.
Bosman says they have law enforcement officers on site to control the situation.
