Journos walk out of Bathabile Dlamini's briefing after 2 hour wait

Journalists have walked out of a press briefing by Minister of Social Development Bathabile Dlamini in Polokwane after the minister arrived two hours late.

The briefing was supposed to be about the social grants payment system and was due to begin at 10 am on Thursday morning.

Many journalists had actually travelled from Johannesburg all the way to the ranch resort just outside Polokwane. And there was no explanation for why she was late.

In the past journalists had tried to ask the minister why Thokozani Magwaza was ousted as CEO of Sassa so suddenly and they were hoping to get an answer this time.

Stephen Grootes reports that it appears Dlamini was not told of the walk-out and arrived at the podium and asked where all the journalists had gone.
