Snakes on a plein: Drought to push snakes closer to properties

Snake catcher Shaun McCleod says we're likely to start seeing snakes coming out of hibernation as spring approaches.

He says because of the drought in the Western Cape, snakes are now forced to look for water and might be found near properties with pools and water features.

As soon as they come out, they are going to look for food and water...

Shaun McCleod, Snake catcher

McCleod urges people not to harm the creatures, saying about 99% of snakes in the Western Cape are harmless and they are just out there looking for food.
