Where does your data go after you have bought it? Is data worth the amount you are paying for it?
On Tuesday, angry Vodacom customers called into Breakfast with Xolani Gwala saying their data and airtime had disappeared on Monday evening.
Vodacom later apologised and returned data to unhappy clients. The incident has sparked debates in the country about whether the cost of data is worth the price people are paying for.
Dominic Cull, Regulatory Advisor at Ellipsis Regulatory Solutions explains that every app you use on your cellphone will count towards the bandwidth you consume.

Cull urges consumers to take a little more responsibility for what they use their phones for. He adds that there are apps which alert consumers on their data usages and can empower them to better manage their data.

Aside from Eskom, it is hard to think of examples of companies that go out there and try to get consumers to use less of their products says Cull jokingly.
