COMMENT: Conor McGregor will be left disappointed

702 stand-in Breakfast host Stephen Grootes says he is very fascinated with the build-up to the highly anticipated boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor.

The match will take place on Saturday.

Grootes believes boxing used to be violence that was disciplined and controlled.

He says boxing legend Muhammad Ali greatly influenced the sport and used it to empower others.

Grootes goes on to say that the showdown between Mayweather and McGregor is not about sport, but solely for monetary gains.

You've got Floyd Mayweather, who is an incredibly technical, proficient boxer and have this UFC fighter, McGregor, who has never been in a boxing ring professionally in his life.

Stephen Grootes, 702 host

If you think about it, isn't it really as stupid as asking Kaizer Chiefs to play against the Gauteng Lions? They are different sports and it's simply isn't going to work.

Stephen Grootes, 702 host

Grootes suggests McGregor will face disappointment after the match.
