Are the Hawks going after Gordhan again?

The Hawks have asked former Finance Minister, Pravin Gordhan, Trevor Manuel and former deputy finance minister, Jabu Moleketi to submit affidavits on the formation of the South African Revenue Service (Sars) special projects unit.

Spokesperson at the National Prosecution Authority (NPA), Luvuyo Mfaku explains that when someone is subpoenaed in terms of Section 205, it is not a warrant of arrest but means a prosecutor can sign an affidavit deposed to by the police official where material and evidence is required.

The Act is clear that they may stipulate to a particular charge, at the same time, it may not stipulate what the charge is but will indicate that the individual may be in possession of evidence or relevant information needed.

Mfaku says he cannot comment on the alleged charges against and investigations into Gordhan.
