Rescue op concluded after bodies of two missing Kusasalethu miners recovered

The bodies of the last two missing mineworkers have now been recovered from Harmony Gold's Kusasalethu Mine in Carletonville.

The pair had been part of a group of five miners who became trapped on Friday morning following a seismic event.

Rescuers have now called off their operation, after a six-day search, EWN has confirmed.

A 1.8 magnitude seismic event took place on Friday causing a rock fall which trapped five miners.

Three bodies were recovered first, and the remaining two were recovered on Thursday afternoon.

Harmony Gold has sent condolences to the families and friends of the five employees who lost their lives.
